AGILE

The Association of Geographic Information Laboratories in Europe (AGILE) was established in 1998 to promote academic teaching and research on GIS at the European level. It seeks to ensure that the views of the geographic information teaching and research community are fully represented in the discussions that take place on future European research agendas.

AGILE is an association of groups rather than individuals, reflecting the fact that geographic information teaching and research tends to be a group activity. One of its main tasks is to stimulate and support networking activities between member laboratories. This is facilitated by organising a range of activities including scientific workshops, state-of-the-art meetings, and wider-ranging European geographic information research conferences. AGILE provides a permanent scientific forum where geographic information researchers can meet and exchange ideas and experiences at the European level. The UTU researchers are active participants in these yearly GI-conferences.
