Geo For All

The Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to foster global adoption of open geospatial technology. The organisation aims to empower everyone with open source geospatial opportunities. OSGeo also serves as an outreach and advocacy organisation for the open source geospatial community, and provides a common forum and shared infrastructure for improving cross-project collaboration.

‘Geo for All’ is the OSGeo’s Committee for Educational outreach. Central to Geo for All mission is the belief that knowledge is a public good and Open Principles in Education will provide great opportunities for everyone. Together with the partners and members worldwide, the committee seek to eliminate the digital divide, empower all as full citizens, and contribute to building up Open Knowledge for the benefit of the whole society and for our future generations.

The University of Turku has been a member of Geo for All community since 2018. The geospatial research and teaching activities at UTU stem from easy access to digital geospatial data, software and hardware combined with access to cloud-based computing environments.
